Recognizing natural wealth
Identifying living natural assets, their ecological functions, and the essential economic services they provide.
Making Living Nature Visible.
Transforming the Wealth of Nations.
For too long, conventional economic thinking has overlooked one of the most valuable assets a nation possesses: living nature. ReGDP™ recognizes living nature as productive, regenerative national wealth and connects its protection to economic resilience and long-term prosperity.
From living nature to prosperity
A new vision of prosperity
Forests regulate rainfall and protect watersheds. Coral reefs sustain tourism, fisheries, and coastal communities. Seagrass meadows store carbon and support marine biodiversity. Whales contribute to ocean productivity and the health of marine ecosystems.
Yet while conventional GDP records much of the economic activity supported by nature, it does not adequately capture the condition, depletion, or regeneration of the living assets on which that activity depends.
Identifying living natural assets, their ecological functions, and the essential economic services they provide.
Evaluating how protection and restoration can support economic activity, potential revenues, public finances, and fiscal resilience.
Exploring pathways to reinvest resources in ecosystems and the communities responsible for their long-term stewardship.
We are not putting nature up for sale. We are making living nature visible to the economic systems that have ignored its value for too long.
BLUE GREEN FUTURE
Built on years of research
ReGDP™ is the culmination of years of scientific research, economic modeling, and collaboration by Blue Green Future's founders and scientific partners.
Beginning with pioneering work on the economic value of living whales, this research expanded to elephants, forests, marine biodiversity, seagrass meadows, coral reefs, and the wider role of living natural capital in economic systems.
BGF has brought these insights into macroeconomic frameworks that connect living natural capital to production, public finance, sovereign risk, and debt sustainability.
Understanding the services provided by living species and ecosystems.
Exploring credible mechanisms that support protection and restoration.
Modeling how natural wealth can influence national economic and fiscal outcomes.
From research to sovereign action
In September 2026, the Kingdom of Tonga and the Republic of Panama signed Memoranda of Understanding with Blue Green Future and Global Resilience Partners, becoming the first sovereign partners of the Sovereign Wealth and Nature (SWAN) Platform.

For Tonga, whose marine and coastal ecosystems are central to livelihoods and its economic future, the partnership opens a pathway to integrate ocean wealth more fully into sovereign economic planning.

For Panama, forests, watersheds, biodiversity, and marine ecosystems offer opportunities to strengthen the connection between natural capital stewardship and national economic strategy.
The future is regenerative
Our vision is a world where nature thrives, communities prosper, and sovereign economies become stronger because living nature is protected rather than depleted. ReGDP™ is about more than measuring prosperity differently. It is about creating an economy in which prosperity itself becomes regenerative.
